In May 2005 the fourth and final generation Eclipse was introduced, replacing the Chrysler platform with Mitsubishi's PS platform, so 2005 was the last year of the third generation. The 2005 Eclipse was recalled twice that year, in February and June, for faulty brake booster assemblies and master cylinders. Convertible models with the 210 horsepower 3.0 liter V6 were sold from 2003 to 2005. The third generation shared its platform with the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus.
