Buick is General Motors' premium brand, placed above Chevrolet and below Cadillac and sold in North America and China. It was started by David Dunbar Buick in 1899, its valve in head engine helped make it the leading American maker by 1908, and it was the company that William Durant used in 1908 to found General Motors. With the closure of Oldsmobile in 2004 it became the oldest American car brand still in business. Buick cars have often shared platforms with models from other General Motors divisions and with the German Opel, and every Buick model, generation and model year on this site links back to this brand page.
