The fifth generation Buick Regal rides on General Motors' Epsilon II platform and is mostly identical to the Opel Insignia. It first went into production in Rüsselsheim, Germany in 2008, and the Shanghai GM twin of the Insignia was introduced in China as the Buick Regal in December 2008 for the 2009 model year. The model line returned to North America for 2011 as a rebadged Opel Insignia. Its model years run from 2008 to 2017.
