The E body coupes were converted to unibody construction and transverse front wheel drive, and further downsized for 1986 to a 108 inch wheelbase. The V6 was now the only engine, fitted with sequential fuel injection and rated initially at 140 horsepower. The 3.8 liter was the only engine used for the seventh generation Riviera, although its power climbed incrementally over the years. Its model years run from 1986 to 1993.
