Imperial was the top luxury brand of Chrysler Corporation. The name began in 1926 on the finest Chrysler, and with the 1955 model year Chrysler cut the link and launched Imperial as a separate make with its own division, aiming it at Lincoln and Cadillac. It built large V8 sedans, coupes, convertibles and limousines with advanced technology until 1975, and a short lived revival returned for 1981 to 1983.
