1957 Imperial (1955 to 1983)

Automobiles

The 1957 Imperial had its own platform and Exner's Forward Look, with a biplane front bumper, a full width egg crate grille, quad headlights where legal, taller fins around the gunsight taillights and curved side glass, a first for a United States production car. A 392 cubic inch Hemi was standard, power seats and dual exhaust became standard, and the first Imperial convertible was offered in the Crown series. It was the best selling Imperial year ever, with 37,593 built, though quality slipped.
