1963 Imperial (1955 to 1983)

Automobiles

For 1963 the split grille was replaced by a cluster of chromed rectangles and the taillights moved inside the rear fenders for the first time, while the Custom and Crown rooflines were squared off with thicker pillars. These were the last Exner styled Imperials, although Elwood Engel, hired from Ford in 1961, applied some touches of his own, especially in the redesigned base and Crown roofs. The LeBaron kept its formal closed in rear window. Production was 14,121 cars.
