The TL, short for Touring Luxury, was Acura's entry-level luxury sedan for the 1996 to 2014 model years, in four generations. It replaced the Vigor and was the first Acura to carry a letter name in place of a traditional one. Japan saw the early cars as the Honda Inspire and Saber. The TL became Acura's best seller until the MDX passed it in 2007, and sat near the top of its class for sales in 2005. The TLX took over the segment in 2015, replacing the TL and the TSX together.
