The 2005 TL gained a switch and indicator light for turning off the front passenger airbag, and its front seats were given extra stitching. There were also several unpublished minor changes such as changes to seat belt anchor mounts. The car otherwise kept the 3.2 litre VTEC V6 with five-speed automatic or six-speed manual, and during 2005 only the BMW 3 Series outsold the TL among luxury sedans sold in America.
