The 2009 TL began the fourth generation, with the first one built on September 23, 2008. Styling followed Acura's Keen Edge Dynamic idea, with the contested Power Plenum grille, and the car grew slightly, with a 1.4 inch longer wheelbase. The base TL had a 280 horsepower 3.5 litre V6 and front-wheel drive. The new SH-AWD model, the first all-wheel-drive TL, replaced the Type-S with a 305 horsepower 3.7 litre engine.
