Ford Capri

Automobiles

The Capri was Ford of Europe's answer to the Mustang, an affordable fastback coupe drawn by a designer who had worked on the Mustang and built on the underpinnings of the Cortina. It went on sale in 1969, sold more than 400,000 cars in its first two years, passed a million in 1973 and was built in Britain and Germany until the last one left Cologne in December 1986. A British only phase followed from 1984. It is kept apart from the Mercury Capri of North America, which has its own page. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the Mk I (1968 to 1973); the Mk II (1974 to 1977); the Mk III (1978 to 1986).
