As sales declined elsewhere in 1979 Ford concentrated on the British Capri market, realising that the car had a cult following. Unlike the four door Cortina, Capri sales in Britain were mostly to private buyers who demanded fewer discounts than fleet buyers, which gave higher margins on the coupe. The X Pack was also sold in mainland Europe from 1979 to 1980 as the 3.0 RS, with only 100 made, all in white with blue stripes.
