The Capri Mk III, also called Project Carla, went on sale in March 1978 as a heavily facelifted Capri II, with black Aeroflow style styling cues, four headlamps and a rear spoiler, and sold very well at first. The 3.0 S was the most desirable model, though in Britain the softer, more luxurious Ghia with automatic transmission was the better seller. In Germany the S models represented 63 percent of Capri sales. North America ended its imports in 1978.
