In 1985 the Capri was a British only car, made in right hand drive form, and Ford enjoyed success in the market with the high performance versions of the Fiesta, Escort and Sierra that appealed to buyers who would have chosen a Capri before 1980. The range shrank to the 1.6 Laser, 2.0 Laser and 2.8 Injection, the last with a five speed gearbox early on and velour trim in place of the chequered seats.
