1986 was the Capri's final year on sale. The very last Laser came off the line in November 1986, painted in a unique Mercury Grey, and the last Capri was made on 19 December 1986 at the Ford factory in Cologne, when 1,886,647 had been built. The final run was the Capri 280, nicknamed Brooklands for its green paint, with a limited slip differential and full leather Recaro interior, which struggled to sell at around 12,000 pounds.
