In March 1970 the 3000E was introduced from the British plant, offering more luxurious interior trim, and in April the Capri was released in the North American and South African markets. In North America it was sold through the Lincoln Mercury division and all cars were German built. The South African cars used the Kent 1.6 liter engine and the V4 2.0 liter version of the Essex. The initial reception was broadly favourable.
