The Ford Probe was a front wheel drive sport compact coupe that Ford sold from the 1988 to the 1997 model years. It was originally planned as the next Mustang, but the outcry at the idea of a front drive Mustang led Ford to keep the Mustang and sell the new car as the Probe, named after a series of aerodynamic concept cars. It was developed with Mazda, as a counterpart of the Mazda MX-6, and built in Flat Rock, Michigan. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the first generation (1989 to 1992 model years); the second generation (1993 to 1997 model years).
