The third generation arrived in April 1985 as essentially a rebadged Ford Scorpio, with the Granada name used in Britain and Ireland only. It used a stretched Sierra floorpan and suspension and was the first European volume production model to have antilock brakes as standard across the range, and it was European Car of the Year for 1986. Engines included the Pinto four and the Cologne V6, and the Scorpio 24 valve with Cosworth heads arrived in 1991. It was replaced by the Scorpio in 1994. Its model years run from 1985 to 1994.
