By 1990 the Granada Mark III was in its sixth year as Ford's British and Irish executive car and its engines included the Pinto fours and the Cologne V6 in 2.9 liter form. It shared its platform, doors and roof with the Scorpio, which was sold under that name across the rest of Europe, and in North America it had been sold as the Merkur Scorpio. A range topping car with a Cosworth tuned engine was introduced the next year.
