In 1987 the Granada Mark III was in its third year as Ford's British and Irish executive car, a stretched Sierra platform with the Cologne V6 range and antilock brakes as standard across the range. In continental Europe the whole range wore the Scorpio badge, while in Britain and Ireland the Granada name continued with Scorpio as a top trim. The 2.8 liter engine was later enlarged to 2.9 liters. The Granada Mark III had been voted European Car of the Year for 1986 and kept the Cologne V6 engines carried over from the earlier cars.
