Plymouth was Chrysler's low priced brand, introduced in the summer of 1928 to take on Chevrolet and Ford. Through the Great Depression it kept the corporation afloat, and by 1931 it had reached third place in American sales. The brand was home to the Fury, the Belvedere, the Valiant and Barracuda, the Road Runner and Superbird muscle cars, the Voyager minivan and, at the very end, the Prowler. Chrysler dropped the name in 2001, moving most of its models to the Chrysler and Dodge brands.
