MG is a British sports car and saloon marque that grew out of a 1920s sales sideline of Morris Garages in Oxford, where the manager Cecil Kimber fitted sporting bodies to Morris Oxford chassis and added the MG badge. The M.G. Car Company was incorporated in 1930 and bought by Morris Motors in 1935, and the marque passed into the British Motor Corporation in 1952 and into British Leyland in 1968. It continued under the Rover Group and MG Rover until receivership in 2005, then under Nanjing Automobile and SAIC Motor, which restarted production in China in 2007 and launched the MG6 in Britain in 2011.
