The MG Midget was a small, lightweight two-seat sports car produced by MG from 1961 to 1979, reviving a name used on earlier MG models such as the M-type, J-type and T-type. It began as the MG-badged version of the Austin-Healey Sprite, introduced in 1961 alongside the Mark II Sprite, and shared that car A-series engine, starting at 948 cc and 46 hp, growing to 1098 cc in 1962 and later to 1275 cc. Enthusiasts call the Sprites and Midgets together Spridgets. The MG version stayed in production for years after the Austin-Healey brand ceased to exist.
