MG P-type

Automobiles

The MG P-type was a two-door sports car built from 1934 to 1936, an updated J-type with a strengthened, slightly longer chassis and the Wolseley-designed overhead-camshaft crossflow engine driving through a four-speed gearbox. Most were open two-seaters, with streamlined Airline coupe bodies and a four-seater that suffered from poor power and low rear ground clearance. The first PA had an 847 cc engine with a three-bearing crankshaft and 36 bhp, and 1,973 were made; the PB of 1935 to 1936 had a bigger 939 cc engine. Unlike the J, K and L types, the P-type names carry no number showing the seating.
