Cosworth is the British engineering company, founded in London in 1958 by Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth, that gave its name to one of the best known families of racing and road engines in motorsport. As a make in this atlas it stands for the Cosworth badge on engines, from the early Formula Junior and Formula Two units built on Ford blocks, through the DFV V8 that dominated Formula One, to the Champ Car, touring car and rally engines and the modern V12 built for the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Over its history the company passed from its founders to United Engineering Industries, Vickers, Audi and Ford before the Cosworth Group was formed in 2004, and it now works from Northampton in England with sites at Cottenham, Silverstone and Indianapolis. Many of its engines carried Ford badges because Ford owned the designs it paid for. Its Formula One record stands at 176 wins as an engine supplier, third behind Ferrari and Mercedes.
