Cosworth GMA

Automotive Engines

The Cosworth GMA is a 4.0 litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine commissioned by Gordon Murray and developed and produced by Cosworth for the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 and T.33 sports cars. The road-going engine is rated at 664 PS at 11,500 rpm, with 345 pound-feet of torque at 9,000 rpm and a redline of 12,100 rpm, which makes it the highest revving road car engine ever produced. In the T.50 the block is a high-strength aluminium alloy, the crankshaft is steel, the pistons are metal matrix composite and the connecting rods and valves are titanium, giving an engine weight of 178 kilograms, the lightest ever for a supercar. A track-only version for the T.50s Niki Lauda produces 711 PS and weighs 162 kilograms.
