The first generation, the CD340, was introduced at the Geneva show in 2006 and went on sale in May beside the new Galaxy. It was the first Ford with Kinetic Design styling and won European Car of the Year for 2007. Buyers chose between Edge, Zetec and Titanium trims in English speaking markets, with Duratorq diesel and Duratec and EcoBoost petrol engines. Its model years run from 2006 to 2014. The S-Max was a Ford designed mid size people carrier that shared parts with the Galaxy and the Mondeo, and it was sold only in Europe.
