The S-Max Trend debuted in China in 2010, a version without the back row of seats, meant to be cheaper and to give more storage space. New EcoBoost petrol engines arrived for the 2010 and 2011 models, a 1.6 litre of 160 PS with a six speed manual and a 2.0 litre of 203 PS. The S-Max was a Ford designed mid size people carrier that shared parts with the Galaxy and the Mondeo, and it was sold only in Europe. Ford marketed it both as a multi purpose vehicle and as a sports activity vehicle, aimed at buyers who wanted space without giving up driving fun.
