The second generation, the AT of 1987 and the AV facelift of 1990, was a rebadged and lightly restyled Mazda 626 that also brought a station wagon built on a Japan and New Zealand only platform. Australia now imported it from Japan, and the Corsair, a rebadged Nissan, took over the sedan role there. Its model years run from 1987 to 1990. The Telstar was a Mazda 626 with Ford badges and some local styling, sold where Ford wanted a mid size car.
