Mercury Comet

Automobiles

The Comet was Lincoln Mercury's compact car, introduced in March 1960 as its own brand and folded under the Mercury name in 1962. It began on the Ford Falcon platform, grew to an intermediate in 1966, lost its name after 1969 when the Montego took over, and was revived for 1971 as the Mercury version of the Ford Maverick until 1977. It was originally meant to be the 1960 Edsel Comet. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 5 generations: the first generation (1960 to 1963); the second generation (1964 to 1965); the third generation (1966 to 1967); the fourth generation (1968 to 1969); the fifth generation (1971 to 1977).
