1963 Mercury Comet

Automobiles

While the 1963 Comet looked almost identical to the earlier models, the chassis and suspension were redesigned to accommodate an optional 260 cubic inch V8 engine borrowed from the Fairlane, using a two barrel carburetor and producing 164 horsepower. The 1960 to 1963 Comets share a similar basic shape, and the Comet shared a considerable number of body and mechanical parts with the Mercury Meteor intermediate in 1962 and 1963.
