The Toyota Vios is a nameplate Toyota has put on subcompact cars since 2002, mostly for sale in Southeast Asia, China and Taiwan. Slotted below the compact Corolla, it serves as the replacement for the Tercel, which Toyota marketed as the Soluna in Thailand since 1997 and in Indonesia since 2000. From 2005 the Vios was also marketed alongside a hatchback complement known as the Yaris in many countries. The name comes from the Latin word vio, meaning go or travel forward, and the fourth generation was released in 2022 in Thailand as the Yaris Ativ. Generations with their own pages on this site: the first generation, XP40 (2002 to 2006); the second generation, XP90 (2007 to 2012); the third generation, XP150 (2013 to 2021); the fourth generation, AC100 (2022 to 2023).
