The third generation Expedition, the U324, introduced in 2006, was an updated second generation on a new ladder frame called T1, derived from the eleventh generation F-150. It went on sale in August 2006 and added an extended length EL version in 2007. The Triton V8 was replaced in 2015 by the 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 in a mid cycle refresh dubbed the U3242. Its model years run from 2007 to 2017. The Expedition EL was offered with the 5.4 liter Triton V8 from 2007 to 2014.
