The Riviera was a Buick personal luxury coupe, General Motors first entry in that segment, sold from 1963 to 1999 apart from a gap in the 1994 model year, which began as a rear drive car on the new E platform and switched to front wheel drive for 1979. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 8 generations: the first generation, 1963 to 1965 (1963 to 1965); the second generation, 1966 to 1970 (1966 to 1970); the third generation, 1971 to 1973 (1971 to 1973); the fourth generation, 1974 to 1976 (1974 to 1976); the fifth generation, 1977 to 1978 (1977 to 1978); the sixth generation, 1979 to 1985 (1979 to 1985); the seventh generation, 1986 to 1993 (1986 to 1993); the eighth generation, 1995 to 1999 (1995 to 1999).
