The standard engine was now Buick's 125 horsepower 252 cubic inch V6, and a new option was an Oldsmobile diesel engine of only 105 horsepower. The year 1982 also saw the first ever Riviera convertible, although relatively few were built owing to a high price of 23,944 dollars. The convertible was available in white or red Firemist with red leather. Most convertible Rivieras had the V8 engine. The 1982 convertible was the first ever Riviera convertible, a rare and expensive car.
