The third Integra appeared in Japan in 1993 with a four-headlight face that some enthusiasts nicknamed spider eyes, and North America had it as a 1994 model. A 1.8 litre twin-cam engine was standard, the GS-R brought VTEC, and the Integra Type R of 1997 turned the car into a stripped, stiffened track weapon that critics still celebrate. It was the only Type R the Acura badge ever wore in North America. The Integra was also a favorite of car thieves and of the tuner crowd.
