In October 1993 Toyota launched the sixth generation Celica for the 1994 model year. The ST205 GT-Four was launched in Japan in February 1994 and a convertible followed in September of the same year, while Europe received the GT Liftback in February 1994 and the GT-Four in May. Minor changes came to Japanese cars in August 1995, with the SS-III added, and the US lineup shrank until in 1999 only the GT Liftback and GT convertible remained.
