The second generation Avanza kept the platform of the original and was launched in Indonesia on 9 November 2011, after four years of development, with a wider track and thinner seatbacks. A facelift on 12 August 2015 brought the NR series 1.3 and 1.5 liter engines, and a second facelift on 15 January 2019 gave it a split headlight front end. It was assembled at Sunter and, from April 2013, also at the second Daihatsu plant in Karawang, and its Veloz grade was a flagship until the nameplate was spun off.
