After the Japanese production ended in 2002, the original DW model Demio was produced in the Colombia plant of Mazda as the Mazda Demio until the end of 2007, when the DE model replaced it. It remained a tall hatchback with 1.3 liter and 1.5 liter engines on the DW platform of 1996. It was the car of a plant outside Japan, for a market outside Japan, while the Mazda2 was sold elsewhere. Its model years run from 2003 to 2007.
