Ford Escape (first generation)

Automobiles

The first generation Escape was released in 2000 for the 2001 model year and developed jointly with Mazda, in which Ford then held a controlling interest, as the Mazda Tribute. It was sold in Europe as the Maverick, and the Mercury brand brought out the Mariner as a rebadged version for 2005. Its hybrid, released in 2004 for the 2005 model year, was the first SUV to offer a hybrid drivetrain. Mainstream production ended in late 2006 and extended production ran on in Asia. Its model years run from 2001 to 2007.
