The first Coronet was introduced in 1949 on the division's first postwar body styles, as the top of a range with the lower Wayfarer and Meadowbrook trim lines. The only engine was a 230 cubic inch flathead six. The 1950 cars had a facelift with a new three bar grille, and a further facelift for 1951 left them virtually unchanged for two model years, as Dodge was busy building military vehicles for the Korean War. Its model years run from 1949 to 1952.
