Road Mode
The road-based transport of goods by truck or lorry, carrying cargo ranging from small parcels to bulk and containerized freight over public roads and highways rather than by rail, water or air. Road freight transport, commonly called trucking, offers door-to-door delivery that fixed-route modes such as rail cannot match on their own, and it typically forms the first and last legs of an intermodal shipment even when the long-haul portion travels by rail or sea.
