Albion Chieftain

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Albion Chieftain was a lorry built by Albion Motors of Scotstoun, Glasgow, introduced in 1948. It had a six-speed gearbox, the sixth gear being an overdrive, and a worm and wheel rear axle. The Chieftain stayed in production after Leyland Motors bought Albion in 1951 and after the British Leyland Motor Corporation was formed in 1968, together with the Clydesdale and Reiver trucks, until British Leyland dropped the Albion name in 1972. A bus derived from its chassis, the Victor VT, was built from 1959 to 1966.
