Berliet T100

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Berliet T100 was a special duty truck built by the French maker Berliet in the 1950s, and at the time it was the largest truck in the world. Only four were made, designed and built in secret in about nine months at the Courbevoie factory and unveiled by surprise at the 1957 Paris motor show, where it was too big for the main hall and needed its own pavilion. Each had a 29.6 litre Cummins V12 engine of 600 and later 700 horsepower and was meant for off-road work in the oil and mining industries, notably oil exploration in the Sahara. Three were 6x6 flatbeds or tractors and one was a 6x4 dumper for a uranium mine, and the second truck was later returned to the Berliet museum.
