The second generation Forester, the SG, arrived for 2002 with a turbocharged XT trim added in the United States in 2004. A Forester STI with the STI breathing manifold and more power was made for Japan. In 2006 Subaru gave the SG a facelift with redesigned headlights, tail lights, hood, grille and bumper, and its turbocharged engine won International Engine of the Year. General Motors sold it as the Chevrolet Forester in India from 2003 to 2007. Its model years run from 2002 to 2007.
