The third generation RX-7, the FD, was announced in October 1991 and went on sale in Japan in December, with a new body design and a sequentially turbocharged 13B-REW engine, the first mass produced sequential twin turbo system exported from Japan. Power rose from 255 PS in 1992 to 280 PS by the end of production in 2002. It was sold in the United States and Canada only from 1993 to 1995, and in Japan it was also sold as the Efini RX-7. Its model years run from 1992 to 2002.
