The third generation RX-7 went on sale in 1992 with the 13B-REW engine, the first mass produced sequential twin turbo system exported from Japan, boosting power to 255 PS. Series 6 was exported worldwide in large numbers, and in Japan it was sold as the Efini RX-7. In the United Kingdom only one version was offered. The car entered its first professional race on 23 February 1992 at the Miami Grand Prix, and the first limited edition, the Type RZ, came in October.
