The Luce was Mazda's executive car, produced in Japan from 1966 until 1991 and widely exported as the Mazda 929 from 1973 to 1991 as Mazda's largest sedan. Its name comes from the Italian word for light. Later generations carried luxury items and interiors as the Luce became the flagship offering, and the rotary engined version was exported as the RX-4. In 1991 it was replaced by the Sentia, which was also exported as the 929. Mazda sold the body stampings of the last series to Kia, which built it as the Potentia from 1992 to 2001. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 5 generations: the SU and SV series (1966 to 1971); the LA2 and LA3 series (1972 to 1976); the LA4 series (1977 to 1980); the HB series (1981 to 1985); the HC series (1986 to 1991).
