The fifth generation Explorer switched to a unibody structure on the D4 platform, shared with the Ford Flex and the Lincoln MKT, with blacked out pillars, sculpted bodywork and stepped headlamps and taillamps. Ford presented it on Facebook in July 2010, and assembly moved to the Chicago plant, where it was built alongside the Taurus and the Lincoln MKS. It had an Explorer Sport with a 365 horsepower EcoBoost V6 and a refresh for 2016. Each model year has its own page.
