For 2018 the Explorer received a front fascia update, with new LED fog lights, not offered on the base model, and a new grille design. An optional Ford Safe and Smart Package, standard on Platinum models, brought a number of Ford safety features, and the Sport and Platinum models received quad exhaust tips. The nine speaker premium audio system formerly offered on the XLT was dropped for a seven speaker system.
